Udo Fritsch, one of Hy-Ten’s owners, has been working in China and Taiwan since the 1970s. Hy-Ten began sourcing molds in China in 2000 and has built molds for over 170 parts in China since then. In 2002, Hy-Ten partnered with data-ed who has a 55,000 square foot facility in Shenzhen, China.
Today, data-ed Asia staffs full time plastics engineers who work directly for Hy-Ten in Shenzhen to manage and support our customers’ needs for tooling being built in Asia. Basing full-time engineers in China expands Hy-Ten’s U.S. tooling capabilities and avoids the pitfalls commonly experienced with China sourcing. It also ensures that all of our China tooling and sampling is done to Hy-Ten’s and our customers’ stringent requirements.
